To give a sense of what is possible, a sample five day program is given below.
Day 1
Our program begins with a private reception, tasting and discussion of Newport’s finest wine lists and culinary experiences.
Day 2
Tour and tasting at Sakonnet Vineyards of Little Compton, RI. This vineyard was founded in 1975 on the well-researched premise that the climate and soil of the area resembles some of the great wine regions of the world. Sakonnet currently has over fifty acres of Vinifera varietals including Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Vidal Blanc, producing over 50,000 cases annually with many wines receiving awards in domestic and international competitions.
Day 3
Tour and tasting Greenvale Vineyards. Located along the beautiful Sakonnet River, Greenvale is a family winery, which produces small quantities of exceptional estate grown wines. Greenvale is on the State and National Registers of Historic Places and is dedicated to historic preservation, open space and fine wines.
Day 4
Tour and tasting Westport Rivers Vineyard and Winery. Located on the historic Smith Long Acre Farm, Westport Rivers has achieved national recognition as one of the top five sparkling wine producers in the country.
Day 5
Tour and tasting at Newport Vineyards. Founded in 1977, overlooking Rhode Island sound, Newport Vineyards had the goal of producing fine table wines and preserving beautiful agricultural land from development. This family-run winery produces a line of premium table wines from its own grapes and from fruit brought in from nearby vineyards. Many of these wines have been awarded medals of excellence at international wine competitions.
